For the record, please state who you are, and what you do in what band.
Dirty Dan, and I play bass in the Dumpster Babies.
Who else is in the band?
Jason Setliff (lead vocals), Dan Frey (drums), and Carlos Mendez (guitar).
How long have you been together?
We've been together for a few years, but we took a little break. We have a reunion show comin' up.
How would you describe your sound to someone who's never heard you before?
Old school punk! Loud, fast, and usually drunk.
Who (or what) are your main influences?
Punk rock in general. I could sit here and talk about the Bad Brains, Black Flag, Rancid, and all the punk bands we're into, but all of 'em contribute to the sound.
Do you have any releases? If so, how can our readers get their grubby little hands on 'em?
No releases yet. But we do have a live recording for now. Just come to a show and get one. We should have a record coming out soon.
Where do you usually play?
We usually play in the Cleveland area. Best place ever to play, hands-down, has gotta be the Spitfire Saloon.
Bar shows or all ages?
Usually bar shows. But some all ages. We like to drink.
What's the furthest from home you've ever played?
Probably Columbus. We don't usually go too far. Like I said, we like to drink and don't like to drive a long way home.
If you could tour with 2 other bands, who would they be (and why)?
Antiseptic and Lorain Skum. Both of these bands are from our area. Gotta represent! And they are both great fucking bands.
How/when/why did you get into punk?
We were all into punk in high school, maybe even a little before high school. I can't speak for the other guys, but I never really felt like I fit in with most people. I started listening to the music my older brother liked, and I found something I could relate to.
Who are some of your favorite bands from the general region?
Antiseptic (Dan Frey drums for them, also), Lorain Skum, Labor Force (I play bass for them, also), Hostile Omish, Criminal Menacing and the Three Strikes.
Who do you see as your band's arch nemesis?
EMO KIDS, THE MAN, RACISTS.
What do you think this area lacks in terms of a good punk scene, and what do you think we can do to improve it?
The scene isn't horrible here, it just lacks support. There are some awsome bands, but in the end it all just comes down to support. If you don't support your scene it will never get any better, then one day it's gone and everyone starts bitchin' that there's nothin' to do.
What's in the works right now?
Got a reunion show on Oct. 30 at the Phantasy [Sorry I didn't get this up in time to help promote. -Ed.]. Then some more shows, hopefully, then some new songs, and a record.
Any advice or words of wisdom to wrap this up?
KILL ALL SUCKAS.
